SR21 - Scientific Research in the 21st century Our processes are tailored to best fit the needs of our students

Our academics, research groups, and experts provide solutions to the challenges faced by students, society, and the economy, with the people of our institute working across disciplines to help businesses, communities, and policymakers benefit from our research outputs. We wish to make our research findings and the expertise of our graduates available to society as effectively as possible.

About us

The SR21- Institute for Scientific Research continues a long tradition of unified and interdisciplinary scholarship, tracing its roots from the Renaissance pursuit closed circle monasteries of knowledge to today’s advanced research frontiers.
Founded in 2010 in the Mediterranean, where its original research laboratories remain operational, SR21 - Institute for Scientific Research has since evolved into a Swiss-based, degree awarding institution (established in Switzerland in 2017) based on small and selective closed circle ethos.
The Institute advances high-level research through a selective closed-circle model engaging leading students and academics in:
- International relations, diplomacy, and security
- Advanced science and technology
- Medical and pharmaceutical innovation
- Forensic Investigations
- Business Science
Through its research approach, the Institute delivers research and knowledge transfer with direct scientific, strategic, and societal impact, fostering progress across disciplines and sectors.

Diversity in educationEvery culture, every nationality, every single person sees the world in a different way

Diversity enriches the educational experience by creating an inclusive and dynamic learning environment essential for creative inquiry. An important goal in diversity education is helping students recognize their biases. Whether they are implicit or explicit, biases stem from reliance on common cognitive heuristics that help people navigate their complex social world. Thus, they are part of being human.

BPhil / MScRGenerative AI & Prompt systems engineering

Traditional AI analyses and optimises existing data; Generative AI creates new artifacts. Traditional AI yields labels, predictions or actions; Generative AI yields creative content like essays, artworks, or code snippets. Traditional AI often uses supervised learning on structured data; Generative AI frequently uses unsupervised or self-supervised learning on massive, unstructured datasets.
Prompt engineering is the practice of designing, refining, and optimising natural language inputs (prompts) to guide generative AI models toward producing accurate, relevant, and high quality outputs. It serves as the bridge between human intent and machine understanding, ensuring the Large Language Models (LLMs) and other generative AI systems interpret queries with the necessary nuance and content.
